About the event

In this virtual session, our host and panelists will explore how data can inform our understanding of barriers to inclusion, how the findings from data-driven inquiry can translate into better policy and management practices, and how we can drive systemic change.

Throughout the 2021/2022 academic year, the Initiative is hosting seminars, workshops, and panel discussions that highlight the programming of the past five years and preview future activities. This panel discussion is the plenary event of the year and is expected to draw a large audience from the Harvard community and beyond. During the event, we hope to highlight discussion of:

  • The role that data and data science can play in fostering inclusion, especially of women, in academia, tech, and the broader corporate world.
  • How findings from data-driven inquiry can translate into better policy and management practices, and how we can drive systemic change.

Our three speakers bring perspectives from the sectors in which they work or on which they are experts:

journalism and the tech industry (Kara Swisher); academia and business (Katherine Coffman); publishing and

 ‘non-tech’ industries (Kumsal Bayazit).

Host:  Deanna Lee, Communications and Digital Strategies Specialist
